New title, new design, new start.

It's really ridiculous to change the title and layout again only after ONE entry which was posted half a year ago.  The main reason I didn't write much was because I was under a lot of pressure doing my last semester in uni.  The other reason was I found out that the original title "Journey to Down Under" wasn't really suitable for me since I did not only read about different cultures, but also things like news, music, photography, film, etc.  So the blog doesn't really aim at only the down under - Australia - but stuffs that happen around me.

I know that blog requires more frequent entries and changing the title (and therefore the purpose) will motivate me to write more.  That's why I did it!

Now that I've finished my time in uni.  I have more time to drop down my thoughts and feelings here.  So I hope I can keep it up and write more frequently instead of stuffing everything into a long entry.

"What happens?" will be about what have I heard and learned from my life.  It doesn't really matter if no one reads it, but if someone does, then I hope they could learn something from it, or at least read something that they did not know before.  The blog mainly acts as a notebook of my knowledge and experience.  And since I'm a Hongkonger in Melbourne, I speak and write both English and Chinese.  I intended to write more English in this blog so that more people could read it, hoping that more English-speaking people could learn about the thoughts of we oriental people, haha.  However I may write Chinese in some posts if the matter was too difficult to explain, or if it's too local (in HK) that others may not understand (even in English) or not be interested anyway.

new website, new blog, again.

I just start this new blog to record things in a more serious way.  I've been blogging for years in different websites for different reasons.  (Just to let you know I am in the Y generation.)  At first I liked to express myself freely on the web as I didn't do much in real life (I was quite an introvert at that time).  I stumbled through a few blogging websites as they all had different services and styles.  I had even owned a 'paid' blog once (that was a big thing as I was only in Jr. High).   Then a certain blogging websites started to become popular among school mates and friends so I started a new one again and searched and joined every alumni group I found in the 'blogrings' (huh, at this point you may know which web I went to).  And I stick to that one for many years until now (except facebook, that is different).

Another reason for me to start a different blog is the ability to stay anonymous.   Of course I don't mind people who know me read my blog.  But I am not quite ready to let all of my friends (not the close ones) and acquaintances read every thing I did and what I thought.  I am just not ready yet.  I think it might be the main reason why I start this blog.  I want people who are interested in the same issues read my blog, and avoid those creepy 'friends' who constantly read others' blogs and being criticized and judged by them (in a non-sense way).

So, what issues would I talk about in this blog?  You may notice the title - Journey to Down Under.  I am a student currently studying in Melbourne, Australia, and what I would focus on are things that I found special and different from where I'm originally from - Hong Kong.  I am a person who's very much aware of my culture and identity.  And since I've moved to study in Melbourne I've realized that I am not too much of a 'Westerner' and not too much of a 'Chinese/Honkie' either.  (Well I was kinda 'western' when comparing to my other HK friends, but too 'Honkie' when comparing to the Aussies.)

Yeah, I started to treasure and admire my own culture more when actually I've spent more time in the Western world.  This was quite weird!  But certainly I would continue to put efforts in learning others' cultures as this is my biggest chance and perhaps the last to meet and know people from all over the world.  (Yes.  Despite the fact that HK is an 'international city', we actually find it hard to meet people who come from other places, except those from China.  Maybe because many of them are just tourists?)

I don't know how long would I stay in Australia as this is already my final year at uni.  I would stay longer if I could get a job but the chances are rare.  Anyway, I want to make the best use of my apparently final year in here and learn things that I could not learn in my hometown.  Please feel free to leave comments and advices, if you are in a similar situation as me, or just want to teach me English.

I am sorry for making any grammatical mistakes and also for the overall poor writing.  Seems like I need to read more English books... which I am always lazy to do!
